Reading Is Necessary

Reading is very important to us, especially for college student of Salatiga State Institute of Islamic Studies, because there are much knowledge that we can absorb from a book. There are lessons we get from a lecture that we have could not understood clearly, unless we learn it more or read a book about it. Thus, reading book is very necessary for us. There are much information we can get from a reading, for example technology, news, science, healthy, history, etc. All of them use written tools as media to communicate clearly and in our religion as we have known, for the first time, Allah said in Holy Qur’an by sentence “Iqro”. I mean, we had been instructed by Allah to read, because Allah has said it in the Qur’an.

And then why Allah had us to read? because it’s very important to us to improve our true knowledge and our opinion after we learn or read something. So we know something that we don’t know before. Thus, we know that everything needs reading, even to get science, because it’s very difficult to look for science without reading. Although we get it from our lecture’s explanation but it’s really not enough for us. So we have to read, as scientist ever said that reading is the key to get science. Speaking about reading, we actually can read not only written papers, but also situation, condition or the others. For example, when we were studying, there was someone get a cough, dizziness, sickness, or trouble on the way, so the lecture could read that student wanted to go home quickly, right?

            From the verses above, we can conclude that we all must be able to read many writings, not only Indonesia writing or Arabic one, but also though Chinese, English, or other. Because at present, the enemies of Islam don’t attack moslem by the sword or bomb, but by many new methodes. So it’s not impossible if they use magazine, TV or another to infuse us as moslems. So, we must be smart to read, not only read a book, but everything in this modern era. If we don’t have enough science yet, we can be a stupid person and don’t have enough knowledge that it will be hold to black hole.  Its name is abyss of ignorance, especially to Moeslim student. So, to read more and more is very necessary for STAIN students. It really helps us to get much knowledge and see the world in this time and in the past.
